Editorial – For the filmproduction ‘Jefta’ we need clothing. For the fashion side of the story we are getting support of a fashion collective with a big international network. Who? I Am Fab is the name.
Who is I Am Fab? It stands for I Anak Maluku Fabulous. (translated: I Child Moluccan Fabulous) A unique collaboration between people of fashion who are differently connected with the Moluccan community.
On the fashion fair ‘De Modefabriek’ in the Amsterdam RAI, Juan Patty ( LA Sisters) and Jeffrey Sterken (Locals United and Amsterdenim) had the idea to take a picture of all the Moluccan people who work with the fashion label or actually have their own. This picture was shared on different sources of social media and it got a lot positive feedback.
At one point Juan got talking to Guillermo Lisapaly (Maluku Cinema production) on an event and there started the communication for the feature ‘Jefta’. In the mean time, after the first meeting with The Brothers Timisela, Juan and Jeffrey came to idea to start a group on Facebook and on Whatsapp to give the collaboration shape.
The idea that we have is to give knowledge and inspiration to the next generations. To open up the network and have fun in the process while we do this all together. We’re mainly focused on the boys and girls who work in wholesale, we want to do this in the near future also for those who work in retail. On The Papeda Games we’ve talked to Moluccan Islands, Adrea Tamaela and Don’t Waste Culture to contribute to the film.
Our contribution to the film ‘Jefta’ is that we invite people from our network in fashion to style the cast and the brothers and we do this in collaboration with all the creative, fashionable Moluccans who we meet on our way. An amazing initiative with this group to give our contribution.
Jeffrey Sterken (Locals United & Amsterdenim)
Juan Patty (Susudio, Vive l’ Homme, LA Sisters)
And of course, William Burnama (Wrangler), Rudy Gerritsen (G-Sus), Diego Lopulalan (PONY), Dennis Tuparia (Carhartt), Iris Poetiray (Marketing & PR, various fashion labels) and everyone else who are a part of our network and will or are involved with the feature ‘Jefta’.
