We are the brothers Henry en Joshua Timisela. Also known as The Brothers Timisela. Founders of the movie project ‘MalukuCinema’. How it all started? At the beginning of summer 2010 we decided to do something together. Joshua: “I always had the desire to make a movie.”
And when I suggested the idea to my brother, he responded really excited. Henry: “In the past we have always made sketches to entertain our family, but to really put something together proved to be an exciting challenge.” Many ideas arose at the table and gradually the story of STERK (2010) emerged.
In addition, in the last couple of years Henry worked as a teacher in various media courses.
And in the most-watched TV movie of all time called De Punt (Hanro Smitsman, 2009), he fulfilled one of the main roles. This movie received the prestigious Silver Medal Award 2010 in New York.
In 2011 we received the Hasan Kaynak Award for our movie Sterk. It’s an award to encourage integration, participation and emancipation which was rewarded by Elan Expertisecentrum in Arnhem. We are currently working on the movie ‘Jefta’ and we have international ambitions with this production.
